An Appeal

Dear friends,

Welcome 2011 and as usual we start the New Year with “Transplantation Update 2011”! Our series of “Transplantation Update” has been going on since 2002 with enthusiastic support from the students and teachers of the fraternity alike. Thus we look forward every January to receive you at Ahmedabad.

We have added a few feathers in our cap in the last year. It will not be exaggeration if we state boldly that our transplantation tolerance model and DAWN (drugs added when needed) theory coined by Prof. Terasaki is the solution for present day transplantation scenario especially for this part of the world! Prof. Pranjal Modi has now the largest series of laparoscopic kidney transplantation in the world and we will be sharing that experience with you.

Apart from Prof. Paul Terasaki, our research collaborator, other overseas dignitaries who will be joining us this year to impart their knowledge are Prof. M. Suthanthiran from Cornell, NY who is also this years’ recipient for the prestigious “Maharshi Sushruta Gnyaanpeeth Sanmaan”, Professors Gunnar Tyden from Sweden, one of the pioneers of ABO incompatible transplantation, Prof. Yoogoo Kang, the grand master of liver transplantation anesthesia, Prof. Achyut Bhattacharyya, the Liver transplant pathologist and our friend from USA and few more dignitaries. Experts from Prof. Sung Gyee Lee’s group from Korea will be sharing their knowledge on living donor liver transplantation. We have been very lucky to have eminent teachers in Nephrology who will be imparting useful knowledge in CME, for regular clinical practice in Nephrology like Professors Pandurang Rao, R.K. Sharma, V.N. Sakhuja, V. Lobo, Sukant Barai, Prakash Keshaviah and N.K. Hase. More stars will be added to this galaxy very soon.

The topics are displayed herewith and will be updated at regular intervals on website.

We are sure as usual, all of you will have interesting and exciting time. We look forward for your visit to the progressive mega city of Ahmedabad with strong frontiers in medicine, biotechnology and pharma industry in addition to being the hub of business administration.

With warm regards,
